Happy 104th Birthday to Betty White!!

Welcome to my twenty-eighth blog! Today is Betty White’s 104th Birthday. Just Betty, not short for Elizabeth as most have thought. She was given the name “The First Lady of Television” after starring in many television shows. She did not have a start in television. Before the modern craze of podcasts, which is now working into streaming services, Betty led her voice to characters in radio shows. Her big television break was starring in her own show, The Betty White Show. She not only starred but also produced. She had creative control which led her to have a female director. All in the 1950s. Way ahead of the times.

Over the years she starred in many tv shows as guest stars. Including The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Who’s the Boss? She got to star in another tv show as a regular in ABC’s The Golden Girls, see all roads do lead back to Disney. Does anyone also remember her being in a Snickers ad as a football player? When she got the Disney Legend award at the 1st D23 Expo, she jokingly said, “I want to put to rest the rumor that somebody started that I used to babysit for Walt when he was a little boy, I didn’t!” Actually Walt Disney is older than Betty so he could have babysat her.

She loved animals and made it her life’s work to protecting animal welfare. She was honored in 2006 by the City of Los Angeles as the “Ambassador to the Animals” for such work. She even voiced a baby toy tiger in Pixar’s Toy Story 4, her character uniquely named Bitey White. Last year, the United States Postal Service honored her with a Betty White Forever stamp.

Betty White has starred in a few movies including The Proposal & You Again. Her last film was a theatrical documentary film. It was called Betty White: 100 Years Young — A Birthday Celebration. It released on January 17, 2022. However she passed away on December 31, 2021 (17 days before her 100th Birthday). They decided to change the film name to simply; Betty White: A Celebration. I did go see this film with my mother. It also had a lost episode of The Betty White Show after the credits. The film was produced by Boettcher Media Group, the Mequon, Wisconsin based company. They also produced the documentary; Betty White: First Lady of Television. They even recently produced the documentary; Dick Van Dyke 100th Celebration.

It was so fun writing about all things Betty White. I can’t wait for the next blog. Until next time, keep your days open for more knowledge. Thank you to everyone who reads this blog.
