 Happy 1st Anniversary of Odyssey Cinemas & Social Fond du Lac 8 Grand Opening!!

Welcome to my twenty-fourth blog! Today a year ago Odyssey Cinemas & Social Fond du Lac 8 had their Grand Opening after a 6-month closer. After a full year remodel the former The Fond du Lac Theatre is unrecognizable. 8 auditoriums with wall to wall screens, heated recliners, and privacy walls. A Digital Selfie Wall to take amazing photos before the next big movie. A Self-Serve Popcorn machine and a 26 (as in September 26) Tap Wall of Beer and Wine. A big lobby and stage for events including Free Music Bingo every Monday at 5:30 PM. Which I sponsor. One of the 8 auditoriums is considered Premium Format with 60 ft Curved Screen, Laser Projector, & 20 Speakers with 7.1 Surround Sound. Today a year and a month ago I started working at Odyssey as an Assistant Manager. Cleaning and finishing things up for the Grand Opening. We held an Open House with free popcorn & soda. We had a line of hundreds of people an hour before opening. A funny story happened during the Open House: We have two self-serve Pepsi Machines each with an ice machine. With the hundreds of people who came, the ice machines could not keep up and I had to grab and load ice from the ice machine in the back. Good thing we have 3 ice machines. 

The next day we opened with regular operating hours. That day we showed The Wild Robot (83), Twisters (33), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (115), Deadpool & Wolverine (28), Transformers One (35), Dune: Part Two (4) and Ordinary Angels (15). The numbers show how many patrons we had all day for each movie with a total of 313 patrons. The next big movie was Wicked which arrived November 2024. This was the most popular film at Odyssey until March 2025 arrived with A Minecraft Movie. Yes that viral movie. Today we will have Him, Demon Slayer, Gabby’s Dollhouse, One Battle After Another, The Strangers: Chapter 2, The Conjuring: The Last Rites, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, and The Senior. We will just have to wait and see how many patrons will see these movies in honor of the 1 year anniversary of Grand Opening. This year will be a little deja vu with another DreamWorks film (2024 was The Wild Robot and 2025 is Gabby’s Dollhouse) and another Wicked film (2024 was Wicked and 2025 will be Wicked For Good). Too bad A Minecraft Movie sequel will not be out in 2026 then it would be a very big deja vu year at Odyssey.

Happy Day After Disney 2026 Shareholder Meeting Day!! Welcome to my 30th blog! Yesterday was The Walt Disney Company Annual Shareholder Meeting. They transitioned to a new CEO, Josh D’Amaro. He comes from being the head of Disney Experiences. The meeting also marked the first company wide CCO with Dana Walden.  Before the business and shareholder questionnaire portions of the meeting. It started with James Gorman, Disney Board Chairman, welcoming Josh D’Amaro & Dana Walden to the C-Suite and thanking Bob Iger for his 20+ years as CEO. They also showed a Thank You, Bob! Video which was the best Thank You video I have ever seen. On behalf of Disney Shareholders and Disney super fans everywhere, Thank You, Bob for leading the best entertainment company in the world!!   Happy Week After 1st Visit to Universal Epic Universe!! Welcome to my thirty-first blog!! And yes, I am talking about this again. I talk about Disney in all of my blogs its Universal turn.
