Happy Birthday Cameron Boyce!
Welcome to my eighth blog! Who is Cameron Boyce? You ask. If you have watched Disney Channel is the 2010s you may recognize him as Luke Ross in the tv show, Jessie or as Carlos (Cruella’s son) in the Descendants film franchise. (Cruella is my favorite Disney villain learn more in Blog #5) If you have watched the Grown Ups films you may recognize him as Keithie Feder, the son of Adam Sandler’s character’s son, Lenny Feder. Boyce has been in other projects as well in his youth and young adult acting years. Before the premiere of Descendants 3 in 2019 he suffered from complications with his diagnosis of epilepsy. At the end of Descendants 3, Disney Channel did an amazing tribute to Cameron Boyce with scenes from his Disney projects and it ended with him reading a script from the show, Jessie. Disney Channel also ended it with a Mental Health PSA, showcasing if you feel sad or are crying you can talk to someone.
A couple months after his passing. His parents formed, The Cameron Boyce Foundation. It supports epilepsy education and research. It also supports the many organizations Cameron Boyce supported including the global water crisis, arts programming, and ending gun violence. With his passing, it hit home to me because I was around the same age. In memoriam of what would have been his 25th birthday, I have made a substantial donation to The Cameron Boyce Foundation. I have been saving up for this exact occasion. Please visit https://www.thecameronboycefoundation.org/ if you also want to donate.
The live-action film, Cruella. Was released 3 years ago on what would have been Cameron Boyce’s 22nd birthday. Not officially realized by Disney, but Disney fans alike love the connection of Cruella being released on Boyce’s birthday and him playing Carlos in Descendants.
May is Mental Health Month. So I have a request for you all. Do something for yourself in the next few days we have in the month of May and continue it afterwards in the many days and months afterward. Activities include reading, breathing, meditating, exercise, and whatever else makes you happy and well. Like the WIXX 101.1 radio host, Huggie likes to say, “Check up on your happy friends”. For those who know me, I am one of those happy friends and you check up on me which is very supportive.
It was so fun writing about Cameron Boyce and May Mental Health Month. I cannot wait for the next blog. Until next time, keep your days open for more knowledge. Thank you to everyone who reads this blog.
