Blog #5 February 2024
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Welcome to my fifth blog! Love is in the air. For this day love can be for many things. For me love to God, love to family, and love to oneself is what I celebrate for valentines. In the world of Disney, it is also Villain-tine’s Day. What is your favorite Disney villain? Mine is Cruella. I am not saying I like what she was going to do to the Dalmatians. I gave my Toyota Corolla the nickname Cruella (For Cruella the Corolla) before I gave it the name Janice, after my grandmother.
In the first two weeks of February, there has been amazing announcements in the world of Disney and technology. On February 2nd, Apple launched and shipped out pre-orders for their coolest new product. Apple Vision Pro is an Augmented Reality headset with spatial computing (Apple’s terminology to showcase their advancements from Mac-personal computing & iPhone-mobile computing). With this headset, people will be able to look through it and have their computer screen in the air of any location they are in like bedroom, living room, patio, etc. This is a Pro version which comes with a professional rate price. I am hoping they will release family-friendly priced versions so more people will be able to experience this product (similar to iPhone Pro to SE, Mac Pro to Air, iPad Pro to Air). This product was announced by Apple CEO Tim Cook during Apple’s Keynote at their annual Worldwide Developers Conference this past June. There was a special guest, The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger showcased their possible ideas for Apple Vision Pro with connecting Disney storytelling with Apple technology. On February 2nd, Disney announced a list of Disney+ movies formatted to 3D for Apple Vision Pro users.
A couple other Disney and technology announcements happened during Disney’s fiscal first quarter 2024 earnings results webcast. Disney and Epic Games (creator of Fortnite) are partnering to create an expansive, open games, and entertainment universe. This will connect Fortnite with the many franchises from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Avatar to just name a few. Disney also announced ESPN’s standalone streaming service (with all of their channels) will launch in Fall 2025. There will also be a partnership sports entertainment bundle with FOX, Warner Bros, and ESPN.
It was so fun writing about Valentine’s Day, Villain-tine’s Day and the new Disney and technology announcements. I cannot wait for the next blog. Until next time, keep your days open for more knowledge. Thank you to everyone who reads this blog.
